Ingredients
¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
⅔ cup powdered sugar, sifted
1 teaspoon clear vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon almond extract
1¾ cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons cornstarch
¼ teaspoon salt
Holiday sprinkles, jimmies or nonpareils
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the vanilla extract and almond extract, and mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, and mix until a dough forms.
- Roll out the dough to about ¼ inch thickness.
- Cut into desired shapes using a cookie cutter.
- Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between each cookie.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Decorate with holiday sprinkles, jimmies or nonpareils.
