This savory mushroom beef casserole is hearty, rich, and full of comforting flavor. Tender beef, earthy mushrooms, and a creamy, seasoned sauce come together in a cozy baked dish that’s perfect for family dinners or make-ahead meals.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 medium onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
Optional Toppings:
French fried onions
Fresh parsley
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a casserole dish.
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess grease.
Add olive oil, onion, and garlic to the skillet. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until softened.
Stir in the sliced mushrooms and cook until they release their moisture and soften, about 5 minutes.
Add the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Stir until well combined.
Transfer the mixture to the prepared casserole dish and spread evenly.
Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top.
Bake uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes, until bubbly and lightly golden.
If desired, sprinkle French fried onions on top during the last 5 minutes of baking.
Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.
Helpful Tips:
Use lean ground beef to reduce grease.
Fresh mushrooms give the best texture and flavor.
Add cooked egg noodles or rice to make it extra filling.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve with mashed potatoes or rice.
Pair with steamed green beans or a crisp salad.
Great for leftovers and reheats well.
Savory mushroom beef casserole is warm, filling, and deeply comforting — a classic baked dinner that never goes out of style.
