Caramel Apple Biscuit Upside-Downs
These warm, syrupy apple biscuit bites are the perfect blend of buttery layers, sweet caramel, and soft cooked apples. They’re simple, quick, and taste like individual mini upside-down apple pies.
Ingredients
1 can refrigerated flaky biscuits
2 medium apples, peeled and thinly sliced into small rounds
1 cup brown sugar
6 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Preparation
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking pan or muffin tin.
Step 2: In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the mixture becomes smooth and glossy.
Step 3: Pour the caramel mixture into the bottom of your baking pan, spreading it evenly.
Step 4: Place a small apple slice or two into each section of caramel, making sure the apples lie flat in the sweet sauce.
Step 5: Arrange the biscuits on top of the apples. Press each biscuit down gently so it adheres slightly to the caramel.
Step 6: Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and fully cooked.
Step 7: Let the pan rest for 5 minutes. Carefully flip the entire tray onto a large serving board or platter. Lift the pan slowly so the caramel drips beautifully over each biscuit.
Serving Suggestions
These treats are best served warm. They pair well with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of warm cream. They also hold up well for breakfast, dessert, or a quick sweet snack.
Tips
• Use flaky-layer biscuits for the best texture.
• You can replace apples with pears for a softer, sweeter variation.
• Add a sprinkle of chopped pecans or walnuts beneath the apples for extra crunch.
