Ground Beef Lo Mein

Ground Beef Lo Mein

Ground beef lo mein is a quick, flavorful twist on the classic takeout favorite. Savory beef, tender noodles, and a rich soy-based sauce come together in one pan for an easy, satisfying meal that’s perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients:
12 ounces lo mein noodles or spaghetti
1 pound ground beef
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
1 cup shredded cabbage or coleslaw mix
1/2 cup sliced carrots
1/2 cup sliced bell pepper
3 green onions, sliced

For the Sauce:
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions:
Cook the lo mein noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess grease if needed.

Add the garlic and ginger to the beef and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Stir in the cabbage, carrots, and bell pepper. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, until the vegetables are tender-crisp.

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and black pepper.

Add the cooked noodles and sauce to the skillet. Toss everything together until evenly coated and heated through.

Stir in the green onions just before serving.

Helpful Tips:
Spaghetti works well if lo mein noodles aren’t available.
Add a splash of noodle cooking water if the sauce seems too thick.
For extra heat, add red pepper flakes or chili oil.

Serving Suggestions:
Serve hot on its own or with egg rolls.
Garnish with sesame seeds if desired.
Leftovers reheat well in a skillet or microwave.

Ground beef lo mein is simple, comforting, and full of bold flavor — a homemade alternative to takeout that’s ready in minutes.
