Savory Chinese Chicken Cabbage Stir Fry
Ingredients:
1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast, thinly sliced
3 cups green cabbage, thinly sliced
1 medium carrot, julienned
1/2 small onion, thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
2 tablespoons vegetable oil or sesame oil
For the Sauce:
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 teaspoon sugar or honey
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1/4 cup water
Instructions:
In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar, cornstarch, and water until smooth. Set aside.
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced chicken and cook for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until fully cooked and lightly browned. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
Add the remaining oil to the same pan. Add the garlic and grated ginger, stirring for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add the onion and carrot, cooking for 2 to 3 minutes until slightly softened.
Stir in the sliced cabbage and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes, tossing frequently, until the cabbage is tender but still slightly crisp.
Return the cooked chicken to the pan and pour in the prepared sauce. Stir well to coat all the ingredients evenly. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes, until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
Remove from heat and taste, adjusting seasoning if needed.
