General growing conditions for dahlias🌸🌼:
-Sunlight: Dahlias need full sun to partial shade. They prefer at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day.
-Soil: Dahlias thrive in rich, well-draining soil. Amend the soil with compost or well-rotted manure before planting.
-Planting time: Plant tubers in spring after the danger of frost has passed.
-Planting depth & spacing: Plant tubers about 4 inches deep and 12 inches apart. The “eyes” or growth points should face upwards.
-Watering: Water regularly to keep the soil consistently moist, but not soggy. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out slightly between waterings.
-Fertilizing: Feed dahlias with a balanced fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season.
-Deadheading & maintenance: Remove spent flowers to encourage more blooms. After the foliage dies back in the fall, you can cut the stems to ground level. In colder climates, dig up the tubers and store them in a cool, dry place over winter.
