Cafeteria Noodles with Cream Sauce – 4 Servings

Eight ounces of egg noodles

2-Tbsps unsalted soft butter

1/4 cup wheat flour

two glasses of milk

half a cup of parmesan cheese, grated

Toss with salt and pepper.

1/8 teaspoon of powdered garlic

1/8 teaspoon of powdered onion

If desired, add 1/2 teaspoon of dry parsley.

How to Follow

1. Follow the package directions for cooking the egg noodles. Reserve the drained liquid.

2. Melt the butter in a big pot over medium heat.

3. Make a roux by gradually adding flour to the melted butter while stirring continuously. To get a subtle golden hue, cook for around 2 minutes.

4. Simmer the mixture while whisking slowly to remove lumps, then add the milk.

5. Add the dried parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and grated parmesan cheese. To make a smooth and creamy sauce, melt the cheese and stir until combined.

Stir in the cooked noodles to cover them evenly with the sauce. 6.

7. After a few minutes of cooking in the sauce, let the noodles absorb the flavors. Then, serve them warm.

Changes and Hints

To enhance the taste, consider including a cup of shredded cheddar cheese with the parmesan. A little cooked chicken or ham may make a meal more substantial, which can appease finicky diners. Substitute whole wheat noodles and low-fat milk for a healthier variation. Feel free to use your preferred vegetables, such as peas, carrots, or broccoli, to enhance the nutritional value.
